All you need to know about Kairos in Free Fire

Unlike some other battle royale games out there, all of Free Fire's 'skins' are in fact individual characters, each with their own back stories, perks and strengths. One character that you may want to consider is Kairos – the Dual Guardian.

Kairos is a great character if you’re an offensively minded player, as his abilities chip away at your opponents’ armour while also dealing direct damage. This guide will tell you everything that you need to know about the masked soldier, including his special ability and how you can best use it to earn your next Booyah.

Kairos is an ex-Special Forces soldier with a volatile personality. He sports a distinctive skull face mask and his movements are highlighted by an eerie purple aura, which helps him stand out among the nearly 60 characters on the Free Fire roster.

According to his bio, he discovered a 'mysterious energy source' while still a soldier that caused his particular set of enhancements. This energy not only changed his body, but also 'instilled a constant craving for more energy'.

Kairos's ability, Defence Breaker, revolves around Free Fire's unique Energy Point mechanic, or EP. EP is a crucial secondary resource as it converts into HP when you take damage, minimising your need for health items. Defence Breaker has two modes, Defence Mode and Breaker Mode.

Defence Mode recovers two EP per second throughout a match. When the EP meter is full, Kairos will automatically transition to Breaker Mode. In Breaker Mode, each successful hit deals increased damage to your enemies’ Shield Points or Armour Durability. However, it also consumes EP for every hit. Once EP returns to 0, Kairos will switch back to Defence Mode.

Kairos is a strange character in that his main ability focuses on armour or shield reduction as opposed to dealing direct damage. He can still deal direct damage, but the extra reduction gives him an edge in every skirmish he finds himself in.

He's a great option for solo battle royale matches, as his extra-potent shots can give him a distinct advantage in a one-on-one battle. That's not to say that he wouldn't thrive in a team setting, but if you're trying to win a solo match, Kairos is a viable and smart option.
