When you first start playing Squad Busters, you'll receive characters in their 'Baby' form. However, as you engage in battle, your characters will evolve and become significantly stronger, with better stats and unique abilities. The four evolution criteria are: Baby, Classic, Super and Ultra. Here's how you can make the most of your characters and secure that win on the battlefield.

The first step to evolving a character is to obtain their specific fragments by opening different types of chests, participating in special events and competing in daily/weekly challenges. This option might be a little taxing because the extent of the rewards that you earn will depend on your performance. If all else fails, you can even purchase the fragments in the shop with your hard-earned coins.

You can use coins to rank up your characters. You'll get 10,000 coins by default when you start, but as the game progresses, you'll need to earn more. The most common way for you to earn coins is by winning matches and completing daily or weekly quests. Alternatively, you can even buy coins with real money if you're looking to expedite the process.

Once you have enough fragments and coins, you can evolve your character. All you have to do is access the Character menu and select the character that you want to rank up. Make sure that you have the required number of fragments and coins for the particular character that you want to rank. Finally, click the Evolve button and watch the magic happen.

To create Ultra characters, you'll need to start the Fusion process. But the first thing you should remember is that not all characters can be fused. So, check the fusion compatibility of your desired character in their character menu. Use the listed items and fragments as fusion materials, and activate fusion.

Squad League is a competitive mode where you can earn exclusive rewards, including fragments and coins. Climbing the ranks in Squad League not only proves your skill, but also provides valuable resources for ranking up characters.

You should prioritise ranking up your S-Tier characters first (according to online tier lists), as they typically offer the best performance in battles. Another thing to remember is to build a well-rounded squad, instead of just focusing on strong characters.
