Advanced tips for your next PUBG Mobile match

You've played a few PUBG Mobile games and are ready to take that next step into ranked play. There are some really good players waiting for you in the ranked queues, and you're going to need as much help as you can to snag that chicken dinner.
Below are a few advanced strategy tips and items you should look out for in your next ranked match. While these won't win you the game outright, they’ll go a long way towards getting you where you need to be.

Stay on the edges of the safe zone

As a beginner, you may see the next safe zone's location and be tempted to make your way to the center as soon as possible, to be the furthest away from the damaging blue zone. While safety from the danger zone is important, not putting yourself in a position to be surrounded by enemies is just as crucial, and you can only do that by sticking to the edges of the safe zone.
By staying on the fringes of the safe zone, you effectively cut the map in half, as theoretically no one should be staying in the blue zone behind you. You can also be sneaky and use that assumption to your advantage by ambushing a foe from the blue zone, but that strategy should only be used sparingly.

Helmets are key

You can find plenty of gear on the ground during your PUBG match, along with a ton of weapons, ammo, and power-ups as you progress. There's one item, however, that should be at the top of your priority list next to a weapon, and that's a helmet.
Helmets not only increase defensive capabilities, they also protect you from headshots fired by snipers or other long-range rifle users trying to take a swipe at you. The higher the level, the more headshots you'll be protected from, so be sure to wear one as often as possible.

All ghillied up

Ghillie suits – full-body outfits designed to blend in with grass, bushes, and other flora around the map – offer a humongous boon to your chances of victory if you find one on the ground. Hiding in bushes is a decent strategy already, but pairing that with a ghillie suit will make you near-invisible with the right cover.
If you see a ghillie suit lying around, make sure you pick it up and put it on. While it will change your appearance for the remainder of the match, the benefits it’ll bring you far outweigh the detriment of not being able to see your stylish fit anymore. After all, victory looks good no matter what you’re wearing.

Don't engage out in the open

Don’t rush into a fight. A patient approach to every enemy engagement will lead to more successful outcomes for you, while jumping into the heat of battle will likely get you eliminated. One of the biggest – and most fixable – reasons for defeat is not having enough cover to hide behind should your opponent gain the upper hand.
Simply put, do not attack an opponent until you have some sort of protective barrier around you, whether it's a large rock you can crouch behind or a corner you can peek out from. Firing at someone when you’re out in the open is a great way to lose a match, as a player with really good aim could simply take you down with one well-placed shot.

Health regen items are your friend

While health packs are great for restoring health, there are other options for you as well. While these do heal a ton of damage, they also take a very long time to apply, and in a fast-paced battle with another player, you don't simply don't have the time to wait.
Health regen items slowly regenerate your health as you play. Consuming one or two of these before even engaging an opponent can make a huge difference, as it will heal damage you take from the enemy immediately after you receive it. While this won't make you completely invincible, you'll certainly feel that way after taking the opponent down.
