How to upgrade your Brawl Stars characters

Unlocking new characters in Brawl Stars is only half of the fun. The other half is upgrading your favorite Brawlers and winning with them. From stat boosts to special equipment, there are many ways to give your preferred Brawlers more health, speed, and power going forward.

This guide will walk you through all of the different ways you can upgrade your favored Brawlers, along with what currencies you'll need to do so. We’re telling you about the tools, but it's up to you to make the masterpiece you want.

You can upgrade Brawlers through the Brawlers menu, which can be accessed via the main menu. Once you enter the Brawlers menu, choose the Brawler you're looking to upgrade, and then tap them to enter their individual page. When you see them appear on-screen and hear one of their trademark quotes, you'll know you're in the right place.

To the right, you'll see a snapshot of their current stats, as well as an "Upgrade" button with designated Power Points and Coin amounts. If you have the amount of Power Points and Coins needed for the upgrade, simply tap the button, and you'll see your Brawler level up.

Once your Brawler reaches Level 7, they'll gain access to Gadgets, the first of many extra upgrade options specific to the Brawler you're working with. When the Gadget slot unlocks, you can choose between two different Gadgets which enhance your Brawler's abilities even further. Sometimes the Gadgets deal with a certain move, other times they will add another move to their arsenal.

For every level you advance between Level 8 and Level 11, you will unlock another perk similar to Gadgets, making your Brawler even more powerful. Level 8 unlocks stat-boosting Gear, Level 9 gives Star Power enhancements, Level 10 provides access to a second Gear slot, and Level 11 unleashes Hypercharge which boosts all three stats and enhances the character's Ultimate attack.

These extra options allow you to tailor your Brawler to your specific gameplay, so that you can take on your opponents with a specially-enhanced brawling machine. With as many characters as Brawl Stars offers, you'll have plenty of different avenues to explore in order to find a well-suited Brawler and upgrade path that appeals to you most, so get moving!
