Hocus Pocus & other spellbinding ‘90s movies

This fall, we’re taking a look back at a few of the most enchanting ‘90s Halloween movies. For more of the spooky spirit, watch the Sanderson sisters return to Salem in Hocus Pocus 2, streaming on Disney+ starting September 30.

After teenagers accidentally bring three Salem witches back to life, they’re thrown into a perilous game of (black) cat and mouse. The witches must feed on childrens’ souls to stay eternally young – but first, they need to get their spellbook before sunrise. With a fantastically bizarre plot, and a cast headlined by Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker, Hocus Pocus brews a witch’s cauldron of fun.

If Sabrina the Teenage Witch stole your heart on TV, you’re sure to be charmed by this movie-length montage of her high school life. In this sweet teen romance, Sabrina (Melissa Joan Hart) uses a touch of magical mischief to get the attention of her crush (played by a young Ryan Reynolds). Will she receive her true love’s kiss at the Spring Fling dance? Watch and find out.

After running into a witch convention at a seaside hotel, nine-year-old Luke overhears their devious plan: to use a magic potion that turns children into mice. What follows is a mad dash to stop the iconic Grand High Witch (Anjelica Huston) and her coven from mouse-ifying the world. Luke’s grandma and a helpful hotel concierge (Rowan Atkinson) round out the original 1990 film's cast as lovable sidekicks.
