Use Character.AI to chat with your faves

Want Sponge Bob to read you a bedtime story? Need dating advice from Jane Austen? Character.AI makes it easy to interact with user-created chatbot versions of your favorite celebrities, historical figures, or fictional heroes and villains.

When you log into the app for the first time, you’ll be asked to select your favorite genres. Then you’ll be taken to your home screen, where you’ll see personalized recommendations for user-created chatbots to engage with.

At the top of the screen, categories like Anime, Fantasy, Romance, and Vampires can help you find the right chat pal, or you can search for a specific character by name. Simply tap on a character to start chatting. Or start an adventure guided by your comments, decisions, and sheer imagination. Tap “Scenes” to role-play your way through immersive stories like Pirate: Marooned in Paradise and Sci-Fi: Breaking the Time Loop.

To hear your chat partner’s words spoken aloud, tap the blue arrow under each response.

Tap the Groups tab to interact with multiple characters in a single chat. Are you more compatible with Han Solo or Indiana Jones? Can you and a talking cow solve mysteries faster than Sherlock Holmes? Or would you rather just explore Hawaii with Barbie and the Wicked Witch, Elphaba?

Tap characters in the chat to determine who speaks in what order or press the dice icon for random selections.

Feeling inspired? Tap “Create” to invent characters, personas, and stories using your own imagination or AI assistance. Choose profile images from the app or upload your own, record sounds and voices – then share your inspirations, follow other creators, and add their characters to your chats.
