Hero guide for Clash of Clans

A Hero is always ready to save the day, and that’s no different in Clash of Clans. If you ever felt your Army was missing something: maybe a damage dealing tank, a long-range marksman, or a support to help you earn that one last star—look no further. This guide will give you the basics on four of the heroes in Clash of Clans, help you strategize, and know what to look forward to as you progressively unlock each of these seasoned warriors.

The Barbarian King

The Barbarian King is the first hero available for your village, unlocking at Town Hall level seven. His high damage is great for destroying enemy buildings, and his large health bar lets him play the role of tank while protecting troops with low health during a raid.
He is best used in combination with ranged troops, like Archers and Wizards, for destroying the remaining buildings of an enemy village once most of their defenses have been destroyed.
His starting Hero Equipment includes Rage Vial, which temporarily increases his health and damage, and Barbarian Puppet, which summons a pack of enraged Barbarian Troops. You can later swap these for upgrades like Earthquake Boots, which destroys walls and ground units around him instantly, and Vampstache, which restores his health every time he lands an attack.

The Archer Queen

The Archer Queen is your second hero, unlocked at Town Hall level eight. Her range lets her easily shoot over walls and hit targets from up to five tiles away.
Your Archer Queen’s range and speed make her very high-damage. This makes her best for clearing out buildings to help efficiently funnel your troops – or you can deploy her last, using your other troops as distractions while she destroys enemy buildings. Pairing her with Healers at the edge of an enemy’s base is very effective, letting your Queen quickly destroy buildings from afar while keeping the Healers out of range of Air Defenses.
Her starting Hero Equipments are Archer Puppet, summoning a group of Archers to her side, and Invisibility Vial, making her invisible to enemy defenses for a few seconds. Later, you can replace them with Giant Arrow, which travels throughout the village to deal damage, and Healer Puppet, which summons healers and gives her max health.

The Grand Warden

The veteran Hero, the Grand Warden, unlocks at Town Hall 11. He is a support troop that can grant massive bonuses to your troops and other Heroes as long as they stay within his range.
His starting hero equipment, Life Gem, passively increases damage and health for all team units near him. If that isn’t enough, his other equipment Eternal Tome makes all nearby allies invincible for a short period of time. This is incredibly useful at higher levels to destroy your enemy’s strongest buildings, like a weaponized Town Hall. Later, these can be upgraded to Rage Gem and Healing Tome.
The Grand Warden is an excellent support. He can shoot over walls, even farther than an Archer Queen, and can jump over them completely to blast through defenses. He will follow behind the highest density of troops you place, making him great for ground offenses and Balloon charges.

The Royal Champion

The Royal Champion is unlocked at Town Hall 13 and is currently the newest Hero in Clash of Clans. She targets your enemy’s defenses by throwing a long range spear, but will switch targets to attack enemy defensive troops or Heroes.
Her Seeking Shield equipment throws her shield like a boomerang to damage four targets throughout the village. She has decent health and can easily take down multiple defenses on her own. Her other starting equipment, Royal Gem, gives her a massive health boost.
A good strategy with her is to pick off a corner of your enemy’s base, destroying or distracting their less powerful defenses until the Royal Champion can group up with your main troops. She is very effective and her Seeking Shield does massive damage, so make sure to use her effectively in battle.
