Learn about every Free Fire weapon type

Garena Free Fire contains multiple weapon types, each with their own attributes and play styles. While you can't control what you're going to find when you drop onto the battlefield, you can prepare yourself by reading up on what may await you when the battle royale begins.

Crossbow

The Crossbow is a stealth player's dream. It’s a silent weapon that can attack enemies without giving up your position. If you pick up one of these on the ground, you can change your strategy to a stealth-oriented approach for silent attacks.

Launcher

Some of the most powerful weapons in Free Fire are the ones that launch explosives at enemies, from grenade launchers to anti-vehicle ordinance. They're unruly at times, but scoring a kill with a big boom from one of these launchers can quickly shake up the game.

Machine Gun

Machine guns in Free Fire are similar to the ones in other shooters, in that they deal incredible damage thanks to magazines that hold dozens of bullets. You won't need to aim down sights or try to be precise with these weapons; these are most effective at wide-sweeping attacks.

Pistol

Free Fire's pistols are straightforward weapons, highlighted by decent damage and a higher-than-average firing speed. The Desert Eagle and USP offer some precision in closer combat, while the M500 comes equipped with a scope for picking off enemies from further distances.

Marksman Rifle

Marksman Rifles occupy the space between normal rifles and sniper rifles. While they're not equipped for very long distances, they can deliver a lot of damage while still leaving some room between you and the enemy. Although Marksman Rifles aren't as powerful as sniper rifles, the higher firing rate can make the damage add up quickly.

Shotgun

If you're the kind of player who prefers to be right in an enemy's face, then finding a shotgun should be your first priority. The SPAS-12 packs quite a wallop in a skirmish, while a well-timed shot from the MAG-7 will take down an enemy no matter how much health they have.

Submachine Gun

A good submachine gun player will want to be close to the enemy they're fighting. The MP5 offers a good rate of fire and decent reload speed, while the P90 delivers a similar amount of efficiency while also being silent, which gives a stealthy player a new option.

Rifle

The rifles of Free Fire are the baseline for every other weapon in the game. Whether it's the M4A1, the AK-47, the M14, or the SCAR, these standard rifles offer predictable and reliable weapons for players who value versatility.

Sniper

Snipers can be high-risk, but also offer high rewards for a precise player. If you hit an enemy with a sniper rifle, it's usually a one-hit-kill, but if you miss or you don't deal enough damage, they’ll know exactly where you are.

Melee

While you always start a Free Fire match with at least one melee weapon – your fists – eventually you’ll find things like katanas, baseball bats, or even a scythe. If you know you can approach someone without causing too much noise, attack with your melee weapon for an unexpected blow.

Projectiles

Projectiles are consumable one-use weapons found all over the map. Grenades, smoke bombs, and more prove useful during any type of Free Fire match, so be sure to collect them as you see them.
