Twitch: Tune in and connect with the community

Twitch is the place to be if you want to watch and interact with your favorite creators in real time. Read on for tips and tricks to level up your viewing experience.

Stay tuned in with the Pop-out Player

Never miss stream moments, even while multitasking. Just head to your profile tab, then tap “Account Settings.” Tap “Preferences” and toggle “Automatically Pop-out Player.”

This allows the livestream you’re watching to continue playing outside of the Twitch app in a floating player, so you can switch between apps or send messages without ending the stream.

Want to get a better view? Tap and drag the window to move it to a better spot on your screen, or drag it to the bottom to close it out.

Connect with people in the same communities through Whispers

“Whispers” is Twitch’s direct messaging feature that allows you to have private conversations with the app’s community members. You can send Whispers to friends or other people by tapping their username from a stream chat and selecting “Whisper” in the pop-up.
Alternatively, tap the “Activity” tab on your navigation bar and then “Whispers” to view your recent conversations. Here, you can also tap “Start a Whisper” and type in the username of who you want to message.

Manage who can send you Whispers by tapping “Account Settings” and then “Security & Privacy.” Here you can toggle “Block Whispers from Strangers” to limit messages from users you don’t know.

Highlight the best of streams with Clips

Share ace gameplay and other standout moments from your favorite creators by clipping highlights from their streams. While watching a live session, just tap the “Clip” icon in the upper-right corner to generate a clip from the last minute of the stream. Once it’s been generated, given a name, and saved, you can share your Clip or copy a link to share on other social platforms.
You can also edit your Clip to fine-tune the moments you capture. Tap and drag the trim handles at the bottom of the Clip to isolate the moments you want to highlight. Once done, add your title and then tap “Save Clip” in the upper-right corner.
Clip favorite moments to highlight standout stream segments
From pop-out players to closer connections and Clips to share those can't-miss moments, Twitch makes it easier to connect with content creators and their communities – all that’s left for you to do is sit back and enjoy the show.
