Guide to controls optimization in PUBG Mobile

PUBG Mobile is a robust battle royale shooter that holds up against any other shooter on consoles or PC. If you’re playing on your phone and relying on touchscreen controls, there is a way to change the layout in order to best fit your hand size and speed. In this guide, we will help you get the most out of your PUBG Mobile control scheme.

The default options for PUBG controls

The default control options are fairly straightforward: hold the left area of the screen in order to move in the direction your thumb moves, and control the camera angle with the other thumb on the right side of the screen. From there, you can jump, crouch, or go prone by pressing the corresponding buttons. You can also sprint by swiping your thumb into the designated area while walking.
For offense, you can shoot by pressing the button with the bullet, and aim down the sights or scope (depending on what you have equipped) by pressing the button with the scope. The default control scheme includes a button for shooting on both sides of the screen, so if you're more comfortable pressing the shoot button with your left thumb, you'll be able to do so.

Set the controls your way

The game’s touchscreen controls feature fully customizable button placements. Go to the Settings menu to see the settings options for Controls.. Open the menu, and you'll see a variety of options for movement and fire. Choose the ones that fit your style, and then tap "Customize", and you'll be shown a gray screen with each button visible. From there, drag and drop the buttons and joystick wherever you wish to put them.
Want the button to shoot your gun right in the middle of the screen? Do it. Want to shift the joysticks for movement in the bottom corners for your hand size? Drag them over there and enjoy. Even actions like carrying downed teammates, entering and exiting vehicles, and opening supply drops can be placed anywhere on the screen you desire.
There's no limit to the type of controller you can design through this option, so play around with a few configurations until you find the one best suited for your play style. Once you've figured it out, you'll have no trouble getting to everything else PUBG Mobile has to offer, as one of the biggest hurdles for learning the game – the control scheme – has already been cleared.
