Every character ability type in Free Fire

As you begin to build your preset character in Garena Free Fire, you're going to see a lot of ability options. If you're just getting started in the game, you might need to learn the difference between an Active or Passive ability or better understand the four different ability categories. With this guide, we’ll teach you everything you need to know about ability types.

Active

Although there are four ability categories, all of them can be Active or Passive. Active abilities are ones you have to activate during a match, rather than having them always on. Alok, for instance, can create a five-meter-wide aura field for five seconds, during which he and all teammates will see gradual health regeneration and increased movement speed while inside the aura.

Passive

Passive abilities are ones you don’t need to activate in order to gain a boost. They strengthen your character continually for as long as they're on the battlefield. The starting character, Andrew, has a passive ability that increases the durability of any piece of armor he wears by a solid margin. Maxim, meanwhile, is able to consume food items and Med Kits more quickly than other characters.

Teamwork

Teamwork abilities affect an entire squad of players. If you play a lot of group matches, you should have at least one Teamwork ability per player to multiply and maximize your buffs. Olivia, for example, has a fantastic Teamwork ability, Healing Touch, where she distributes health from single-target items (Med Kits, food, etc.) to any teammates standing within 10 meters of her.

Survival

Survival abilities focus solely on attributes that affect your performance in battle. These will increase things involving health boosts, stealth, specific statistics, or even one-off activations like the ability to hide in a bush in Wukong's case. Survival abilities, as the name suggests, are built to keep you in the game for as long as possible.

Attack

Attack abilities are all about offense, as they increase damage, decrease reload speed, or enhance accuracy. These abilities may also improve performance for specific types of weapons. If you're looking for abilities that make you a better elimination machine, these are where you should be looking.

Info

Finally, Info abilities will make you the scout of the team by gathering information and sharing it automatically with your teammates. These perks are less about scoring direct kills and more about learning everything there is to know about your opponents. Clu, for example, can instantly reveal any enemy who isn't in a crouching or prone position to everyone else on the team.
