Learn every character role in Mobile Legends

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang pits players against one another in five-on-five MOBA combat, but there are multiple roles a player can fill depending on the character they choose. In this guide, we'll give you a brief overview of how each role should approach a match, as well as a few example strategies to try out the next time you load up the game.

Assassin

Hero examples: Hayabusa, Karina, Saber
Assassins focus on agility and precise attacks rather than straightforward force. These heroes are best trailing behind a Tank or Fighter, hiding until an enemy player loses significant life, and then springing out from the shadows to finish the job. Assassins are also good at pursuit, so if a wounded opponent is trying to retreat, the Assassin can close the gap to add another kill to the count.

Fighter

Hero examples: Balmond, Dyrroth, Masha
Fighters are built to stand against enemies and monsters and fight until the bitter end. High defensive stats allow them to stay in the fight for long periods of time, while their damage output slowly increases over time to make them the most dangerous heroes on the battlefield. A lot of good Fighters are also good junglers, who fight in the middle of the field and rake in gold for their team.

Mage

Hero examples: Lunox, Nana, Vexana
Like Assassins, Mages are meant to stand back from the fray and attack strategically. Unlike Assassins, however, Mages should not close in on enemies, as their low defenses make them easy targets. Thankfully, Mages primarily use long-range attacks to keep them out of direct harm, while also having access to unique crowd control techniques, which could help shift momentum for your team.

Marksman

Hero examples: Beatrix, Layla, Wanwan
Marksman heroes are entirely long-range attackers, though unlike Mages, Marksmans’ biggest strengths lie in their normal attacks. The distance those attacks can cover, coupled with the scaling damage as the match progresses, make them formidable options both in lanes and in the jungle. If quick and powerful strikes from a distance fit your style of gameplay, the Marksman might be your best bet.

Support

Hero examples: Diggie, Floryn, Rafaela
Support players focus on making sure their allies stay alive and strong throughout the match. Heals, buffs, and shields are all in the Support hero's repertoire, and they'll regularly travel to every section of the map in order to aid teammates. Some Support heroes can even soak up some damage and give their ally time to heal or recall.

Tank

Hero examples: Franco, Khufra, Uranus
Tanks are the big, beefy characters that get right in the face of their opponents, dealing heavy damage as they go. While they move slowly most of the time, their incredible power and top-notch defensive stats more than make up for the loss in speed. Tank strategy is the most straightforward of the roles – walk straight, bash stuff, stay alive – but it's an effective part of the team nonetheless.

Hybrid

Hero examples: Mathilda, Gatotkaca, Kimmy
Some heroes are a mixture of roles, which gain the strengths and weaknesses of two or more roles in order to fill a more varied skill set. Some of the combinations suit each other perfectly, while others are more outside-the-box pairings. We recommend starting with one-role heroes to learn the ropes, but eventually it will feel like a natural progression to branch out into dual roles.
