A poet, journalist, writer and dancer, Barbara Quick is the author of Northern Edge: A Novel of Survival in Alaskas Arctic as well as Still Friends: Living Happily Ever AfterEven If Your Marriage Falls Apart and Under Her Wing: The Mentors Who Changed Our Lives. Her reviews, essays and articles have appeared in the New York Times Book Review, Newsweek, Ms., People, the Los Angeles Times, and the San Francisco Chronicle. An avid student of Brazilian, West African and jazz dance, and an occasional performer with Ginga Brasil, she lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her son Julian and a marmalade cat named Sassy.
