Cathy McIlwaine

Cathy McIlwaine is a Reader in Human Geography at Queen Mary, University of London, where she has worked since 1995.Prior to that, she received her PhD from the London School of Economics and subsequently held a lectureship there.McIlwaine’s research has focused on the uneven geographies of development in relation to poverty, gender, and urban violence, as well as the nature of North-South linkages through international migration. She has most recently focused on low-paid migrant labor in London and the Latin American community in the city. McIlwaine has published eight books, the most recent being Geographies of Development (with Sylvia Chant, 2009) and Global Cities at Work (with Jane Wills, Kavita Datta, Yara Evans, Jo Herbert and Jon May, 2010).
