Clark Ashton Smith (1893-1961) was an author, poet, and sculptor. In his lifetime, he was known for his short stories in Weird Tales magazine. Admirers of Smith's poetry have included H.P. Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, Ray Bradbury, Harlan Ellison, and Stephen King. In his book Danse Macabre, Stephen King described Ebony and Crystal as Smith's finest work.
