Col Danvir Singh, SM retired from the Indian Army after serving for twenty years. He is now an Associate Editor with the Asia’s largest Defence Magazine “Indian Defence Review”.A second generation infantry officer in his family; he grew up listening to the stories of his father of 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak wars. Commissioned in to his father’s regiment in 1991, he has actively participated in the Indo-Pak conflict in Kashmir from 1992 to year 2000.Credited with a vast combat experience ranging from fighting at the world’s highest battle field “The Siachen Glacier” to the fighting the insurgents in the dense tropical jungles of the North East or from the border skirmishes on the Line of Control to fighting the proxy war in the Kashmiri hinterland. Danvir for his conspicuous act of gallantry in the face of foreign terrorists in Kashmir valley, was awarded a Sena Medal.During his stint in 2005 on the Eastern border of Ladakh with the Chinese, he sustained debilitating injury to his backbone while patrolling near the famous Tara post in Chushul of 1962 fame.As the Commanding Officer of 9 SIKH LIGHT INFANTRY.
