David Stuart Ryan

David Stuart Ryan was born in 1943 at Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, England. He was educated at Wimbledon College and King’s College London where he read Ancient History and Philosophy as well as editing the London University newspaper, Sennet. After working as an advertising copywriter he set off on a round the world journey that took some 6 years to complete, visiting Europe, India, SE Asia, Australia, Fiji and America. These travels formed the basis of his poetry series, The Seven Worlds, of which Home is the fifth volume. Having returned to the home he describes how its perception has subtly changed, nothing can ever be quite the same again, the perceptions are different as a result of travel. So much so that he is impelled to go on another long journey, this time to the United States where he gives a vivid first impression of the continent, yet this first impression contains much that will be the basis of the emergent nation. The potential and the birth of the nation are both captured as he explores the heritage of the native Americans in the present day.
