Elizabeth Bruening Lewis

ELIZABETH BRUENING LEWIS, PH.D., has had a triple career. She has been an Arizona Press Woman and a member of the National Federation of Press Women since 1964. In 1975 (following a B.A. from Vassar College and an M.A. from Arizona State University) she earned her Ph.D. from Georgetown University in Medieval History with a specialty in symbolism in Christian Art. She then taught humanities at Arizona State University. And finally, she is a wife, mother, and now grandmother who has put innumerable hours into community service, including serving as a gubernatorial appointee to the Arizona Historical Records Advisory Board. Besides numerous articles Elizabeth has published five books, four of which have won national first place awards and the other an honorable mention in Arizona. She hopes that her sixth book, Visitors to the Past, will open up areas of the past which will stimulate educated but non-specialist readers. Elizabeth, her husband, and their current corgi dog Terrwyn divide their time between Phoenix and Prescott, Arizona.
