Françoise Besson is Emerita Professor of literatures in English at the University of Toulouse 2-Jean Jaurès, France, and a translator and poet. Her research focuses on ecology and literature and on the relationship between landscape and writing in English, Native American and Canadian literatures, especially travel writing. She published and edited several books and articles on mountains and literature, the memory of nature, and also on animal studies. Her most recent publications include Ecology and Literatures in English. Writing to Save the Planet (2019). She has published several collections of poems, tales and short stories and, with Madeleine Besson, her mother, several books on regional culture.
