George Lipsitz

George Lipsitz lived in St. Louis from 1963 to 1982, studying at Washington University and at the University of Missouri-St. Louis where he later taught. He is Professor of Ethnic Studies at the University of California, San Diego, and author of several books, including Time Passages: Collective Memory and American Popular Culture and A Life in the Struggle: Ivory Perry and the Culture of Opposition, which won the 1988 Anisfield-Wolf Prize as an outstanding book on race relations.
