Jacob C Varghese is a communication specialist and public health strategist. He started his career as a journalist in Delhi in the early 80s and was the first course coordinator of the journalism and mass communication course at Madras Christian College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He worked as a journalist with World Vision India and later became the Scientific Affairs Specialist at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), India – Chennai U.S. Consulate. At the pinnacle of his career, he was the Country Director of International Training and Education Centre for Health (I-TECH) under the University of Washington, Seattle, USA. Jacob graduated in Journalism and Mass Communication (M.J.) from Kerala University and received a master’s degree (M.S.) from Murray State University in Kentucky, USA. He specialized in public health while working with CDC, Atlanta/India office and received a certificate in International Public Health Management (MIPH). He was twice recipient of South Asia Fundraising Group (SAFRG) Award and a recipient of the Meritorious Honor Award from the U.S. Mission in India. He lives in Chennai with his wife Anila. Saharsha, his daughter lives in Bangalore with her husband Shiju Thomas and son Shashank is in Mumbai.
