Joe Ortiz

Co-owner of Gayle's Bakery in Capitola, Joe Ortiz has been writing musical theater pieces for more than twenty years. Before he started, he took one year off from baking bread and decided to write poetry "in practice" for writing song lyrics and musicals. Joe's books include THE VILLAGE BAKER (Ten Speed Press), SHAKESPEARE ON GOLF (Hyperion), THE GARDENER'S TABLE (Ten Speed Press), and THE VILLAGE BAKER'S WIFE (Ten Speed Press). He has published food pieces in Bon Appetit, Food & Wine, and Writer's Digest.
