John Galt

John Galt (1779-1839) was the author of several novels that focused on the Scottish political landscape. After spending some time travelling around the Mediterranean, Galt settled in London and started writing. He moved to Canada in 1826, founding two towns while he was there, and returned to Britain in 1829 to continue writing. He retired to Greenock where he died in 1839.
