Kathleen Staudt

Kathleen Staudt (PhD, University of Wisconsin 1976) is Professor Emeritus of Political Science and Endowed Professor of Western Hemispheric Trade Policy Studies at the University of Texas at El Paso, where she taught for forty years. She founded and directed UTEP’s Center for Civic Engagement from 1998 to 2008. Since the late 1990s, Staudt worked with two IAF affiliates in El Paso (EPISO and Border Interfaith) and became a founding co-chair of Border Interfaith in 2004 and subsequently a core leader in her own faith-based (Protestant) member institution. She is the author or editor of more than twenty books, including Border Politics in a Global Era, Violence and Activism at the Border, Social Justice in the U.S.-Mexico Border Region, and Women, International Development and Politics.
