Mahendranath Gupta

Mahendra Nath Gupta (1854–1932), fondly referred to by his devotees as 'M.', was an eminent disciple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa and the author of 'The Gospel of Ramakrishna' ('Sri Sri Ramakrishna Kathamrita' in Bengali). Educated as a school teacher, Gupta is best known for meticulously chronicling the conversations and activities of his spiritual guru, Sri Ramakrishna, over the course of several years. His magnum opus, 'The Gospel of Ramakrishna,' published at the turn of the 20th century, is a masterful compilation of the profound teachings and parables of Ramakrishna, one of the leading spiritual figures in India.
