A locavore before the word existed, his local restaurant, Turback’s of Ithaca, helped to popularize cooking with local ingredients, an achievement recognized nationally. As a result of his daring all-New York State wine list, Wine Enthusiast Magazine named Turback’s “one of the wine-friendliest restaurants in America.” He is the author of over a dozen books on topics ranging from the ice cream sundae to the food and wine of the Finger Lakes. Michael is to the Ithaca Farmers Market what Dickens was to the streets of London.
