Robert Q. Thompson is Emeritus Professor of Chemistry, having taught analytical chemistry at Oberlin College from 1982-2019. He is a graduate of the College of Wooster (BA) and Michigan State University (PhD). Thompson served as Secretary of the Analytical Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS) from 1996-1999, twice served as Visiting Associate for the ACS Committee on Professional Training, and took sabbatical leaves at the Federal Bureau of Investigation Research Laboratory, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and the Hollings Marine Laboratory. Thompson has published more than forty journal articles and three books, including Instrumental Investigations: A Laboratory Manual of Forensic Analytical Chemistry.
