Robert Filmer

Sir Robert Filmer (1588-1653), was an English political theorist who defended the divine right of kings. His most famous work, Patriarcha, published after his death in 1680, was attacked by many Whigs. Including Algernon Sidney, James Tyrrell, and John Locke. Filmer also penned critiques of Thomas Hobbes, John Milton, Hugo Grotius and Aristotle.
