SIMCHA RAZ Simcha Raz is an Israeli author and educator. He has an M.A. in public administration from the Hebrew University and rabbinic ordination from Merkaz HaRav Kook Yeshivah in Jerusalem. He is the author of many popular books on Aggadic and Hasidic themes, several of which have appeared in English translation, including A Tzadik in Our Time (1972), The Sayings of Menahem Mendel of Kotzk(1995) and Hasidic Wisdom: Sayings From The Jewish Sages, translated by Dov Peretz Elkins and Jonathan Elkins (1997). His articles frequently appear in the Israeli press, and he hosts literary programs in the electronic media in Israel. He has received several literary prizes, and he was awarded the Israel Minister of Religious Affairs'' Jewish Heritage Prize in recognition of his efforts in teaching Hebrew language and literature in Israel and throughout the Jewish world, most recently in the Commonwealth of Independent States. He lives in Jerusalem with his wife, Colleeen. They are the parents of two children.
