Teresa of Ávila

Santa Teresa de Jesús was educated in the lives of the saints and left home hoping to travel the world converting pagans. Teresa was hospitalized for a time in the convent of the Augustinian nuns of Santa María de Gracia, but had to return to her home in Ávila by her poor health. She fled again to enter the convent of Incarnation, where she joined the Order of the Barefoot Carmelites. Since then she devoted herself to the reform of the order, supported by St. John of the Cross.
