Terry Marsden

Terry Marsden is Professor of Environmental Policy and Planning, in the School of Geography and Planning, and Director of the Sustainable Places Research Institute (PLACE) at Cardiff University. He established PLACE in 2010 to bring together research from across the disciplines to examine place-based and transdisciplinary sustainability science. It now holds over 100 affliliates and over 30 core research staff. Terry has published widely over the past thirty years on the related areas of rural development, agri-food studies, environmental policy and sustainability science. His most recent books include:Sustainable Food Systems: building a new paradigm(eds with Adrian Morley, Earthscan, 2014), and Agri-food and ruraldevelopment: sustainable place-making(Bloomsbury, 2017). He has participated in many internationally recognised research projects on environmental change and development, and currently conducts collaborative empirical research in North America, Brazil, China and Malaysia, as well as in the EU and UK. He also advises government bodies on these fields.
