William J. Phalen

William Phalen is the author of five previous books: American Evangelical Protestantism and European Immigration, 1800-1924; The Consequences of Cotton in Antebellum America; How the Telegraph Changed the World; Coney Island, 150 Years of Rides, Fires, Floods, the Rich, the Poor and Finally Robert Moses; and The Democratic Soldier, The Life of General Gustave P. Cluster. Academically, he has a B.S. degree from Fordham University, a Master's degree from Hunter College, and a PhD from Rutgers University. He teaches American History as an adjunct in colleges and universities in the New York area where he lives with his wife Maureen.
