"Pierre-Oliver mourns the lost status of Pluto, Jérome has trouble declaring his love, Nicolas and Steve are searching for a suitable name for their punk band and Émilie is reluctantly organising a party (which appropriately ends in disaster). WEST OF PLUTO, half drama, half comedy, follows a dozen teenagers from the suburbs of Quebec and clocks everything that affects youths of this age: infatuation, the weariness of life, drugs, sex and alcohol – not forgetting the ever-present issues of their individual identities. The use of improvising amateur actors increases the authenticity of this film enormously."
