From the moment of her birth, Stephanie Lewis is torn by conflicting forces. She is raised in a family that find it difficult to express emotions, where true love is hidden and disguised, lost beneath the surface of everyday squabbles.  As a young woman, Stephanie appears to have it all, including a marriage to the sophisticated handsome older gentleman the entire world seems to find desirable.
