About this movie

Based on the Vertigo comic book series from DC Entertainment, the film stars Oscar nominee Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish and Elisabeth Moss as three 1978 Hell’s Kitchen housewives whose mobster husbands are sent to prison by the FBI. Left with little but a sharp ax to grind, the ladies take the Irish mafia’s matters into their own hands—proving unexpectedly adept at everything from running the rackets to taking out the competition…literally.

Love all the great "mob type" movies. Although it doesn't quite compare to those such as "The God Father" or "Good fellas" Etc. It was refreshing to see the wives play the power roles for a change. It shows that gender means nothing in business. Also, puts perspective to the hard decisions and consequences in this lifestyle from a woman's point of view. Great story n actresses are some or my favorites. I loved it and would definitely recommend u check it out.

Realistic and not sugarcoated. Set in 1978, three women are faced with trying to keep their families and themselves feed and with shelter once their Irish mobster husbands are imprisoned for 4 years. If you enjoy Goodfellas or The Godfather saga, you should enjoy this film. The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is the cinematography was not as amazing as the film. The preview is misleading. Elizabeth Moss and Melissa McCarthy are excellent. Tiffany Haddish's performance stood out.

Overall, this was a strong female film. I disliked Tiffany Haddish roles the most because towards the end especially, it became all about the race card and "her people". I thought the film could have been so much stronger without this. Yes, I get it...but it got off pace in my opinion. The entire reason this enterprise started was so Melissa McCarthy could feed and care for her children. Parts of this film were wonderful and other parts were a bit slow. I wanted a few more minutes at the end.
