When Judge James K. Hardy (Lewis Stone) is offered a considerable payment to work on a monopoly case in Washington, D.C., he brings his family along on the trip from their small town. Shortly after arriving, Andy (Mickey Rooney) becomes enamored of the French ambassador's daughter, while Marian (Cecilia Parker) is seduced by the charms of metropolitan living. Along with his wife, Emily (Fay Holden), Hardy has more than the case to worry about -- he has two rambunctious teenagers.
