In questo film terrificante e ricco di azione basato sulla serie a fumetti MARVEL, cinque giovani che manifestano poteri speciali vengono portati in un'istituzione segreta per sottoporsi a trattamenti che come viene loro detto, li proteggeranno dai pericoli che derivano dall'uso dei loro poteri. I personaggi sono Danielle Moonstar alias Mirage (Blu Hunt), che crea illusioni dalle paure di altre persone; Rahne Sinclair (Maisie Williams), che si trasforma nel lupo mannaro Wolfsbane; Sam Guthrie (Charlie Heaton), che, come Cannonball, può volare alla velocità di un jet protetto da un campo di forza; Roberto da Costa aka Sunspot (Henry Zaga), che assorbe e canalizza l'energia solare; e Illyana Rasputin alias Magik (Anya Taylor-Joy). Sorella minore di Colossus, Magik si riveste a suo piacimento di un'armatura e brandisce una spada dell'anima che amplifica le sue molteplici abilità sovrumane e psichiche. Invitati dalla dott.ssa Cecilia Reyes (Alice Braga) a condividere le loro storie su quando i loro poteri si sono manifestati per la prima volta, i cinque "pazienti" arrivano a capire di far parte di una classe di persone chiamate mutanti, che sono state storicamente emarginate e temute. Mentre rivivono le storie delle loro origini, i loro ricordi sembrano trasformarsi in realtà terrificanti. Presto si interrogano su cosa sia reale e cosa non lo sia, e diventa chiaro che l'istituzione non è quello che sembra. La domanda è: perché sono tenuti prigionieri? E chi sta cercando di distruggerli? La tensione e l'orrore aumentano in questo viaggio da brivido diretto da Josh Boone e scritto da Boone e Knate Lee.

Valutazioni e recensioni

This movie was absoulute garbage. When I first watch movies, I don't see the small things that are bad, but after movies, I think, and boy does this movie give me a lot of questions. First of all, they never explain what the weird monster thing was or any of the characters backstories. Second, when she "defeats" the bear thing in the end, the battle scene is very lazy. All she did was hug the bear, and BOOM. And lastly, the whole plot is very cliche, kids in a hospital or something with powers.

A promising cast and the penultimate brand for media, totally wasted. An extremely uneven plot, a script that goes out of its way to de-hero its characters and a snail's pace development. If you are in love with all things Marvel (as I am), you might ignore all the reviews and see this movie (which i did). If that's the case, watch it with someone and split the cost.

The New Mutants has creative visuals and a great cast, however I found that the characters were heavily underdeveloped and relied on stereotypes to fill the gaps. The story felt weirdly paced, like I feel this would've been better as a series instead of a movie. I like how it links to previous movies, it did that really nicely. Also I'm a sucker for cute relationships and this movie delivered there too. ^_^ Don't trust the trailers though. This is definitely not a horror movie. its basically your average X-men movie
