Az MMA-harcos Cole Young igazi profi, aki pénzért verekszik, de nincs tisztában örökségével – ahogy azzal sem, miért küldte rá a Külső Világ császára, Shang Tsung a titokzatos kriomantát, Sub-Zerót. Családját féltve Cole Jaxtől, a különleges erők őrnagyától kér tanácsot, aki az övéhez hasonló sárkányjegyet visel születése óta. Jax arra bíztatja, keresse meg Sonya Blade-et, az út pedig Raiden nagyúr palotájába vezeti. Raiden egy Idősebb Isten, a Földi Birodalom védelmezője, aki menedéket kínál mindazoknak, akik a jegyet viselik. Cole arra hivatott, hogy a Föld legnagyobb bajnokaival vállvetve küzdjön meg a Külső Világból érkező ellenséggel az univerzumért. Felkészülése során olyan harcosok segítik, mint Liu Kang, Kung Lao és a renegát zsoldos, Kano. Elég messzire juthat-e Cole, hogy időben felszínre szólíthassa a lelke mélyén rejtőző mágikus erőt nem csupán családja megmentéséhez, de a Külső Világ harcosainak megállításához is?

Positives - Great action and fight scenes - Brutal and gory like a Mortal Kombat movie should be Negatives - Having been a fan of Mortal Kombat since I was a kid, I felt like the writers did not know which direction to go - They kept bring up the tournament, but there was no tournament. - Goro looked great, but had no real part except to die. - Like every other movie that has a "Chosen One" they use a birth mark The original movie from the 90s was far better. Merge the two would be 5 🌟!!!

I despise when studios make a franchise movie to milk the built-in fan base, but they're ashamed of the characters, so they make their own characters, usually for "representation" reasons. Since this franchise had tons of Asians already, I'm not sure why WB hated them. But clearly, they did. So you get Joe Asian-American. With a dumbass super power. I watched this on HBO Max and still wanted my money back.

Being a fan of the 95' original I had high expectations. The movie starts with the origin of my two favorite characters from the franchise only to barely see them throughout the movie. If they focus the story entirely on Scorpion and Sub-Zero instead of this new character, the movie would have been amazing. This movie was entertaining to watch once but to purchase for $25 it's a no for me. Hopefully if they make a sequel they will fix the problems.
