MMA-fightern Cole Young är van vid att få stryk för pengar, men vet inget om sin släkts historia – eller varför Outworlds kejsare Shang Tsung har skickat sin starkaste krigare, kryomantikern Sub-Zero, efter honom. Cole oroar sig för sin familjs säkerhet och letar upp Sonya Blade efter ett tips från Jax, en elitsoldat med samma underliga drakmärke Cole föddes med. Hans uppdrag leder honom till Raiden, som beskyddar både Earthrealm och alla som bär märket. I hans tempel får Cole träna med de erfarna krigarna Liu Kang och Kung Lao, samt legosoldaten Kano, för att bekämpa Outworlds styrkor i en strid om universums framtid. Kan Cole lära sig använda sin arcana – den enorma kraften i hans själ – för att rädda sin familj och stoppa Outworld en gång för alla?

Positives - Great action and fight scenes - Brutal and gory like a Mortal Kombat movie should be Negatives - Having been a fan of Mortal Kombat since I was a kid, I felt like the writers did not know which direction to go - They kept bring up the tournament, but there was no tournament. - Goro looked great, but had no real part except to die. - Like every other movie that has a "Chosen One" they use a birth mark The original movie from the 90s was far better. Merge the two would be 5 🌟!!!

I despise when studios make a franchise movie to milk the built-in fan base, but they're ashamed of the characters, so they make their own characters, usually for "representation" reasons. Since this franchise had tons of Asians already, I'm not sure why WB hated them. But clearly, they did. So you get Joe Asian-American. With a dumbass super power. I watched this on HBO Max and still wanted my money back.

Being a fan of the 95' original I had high expectations. The movie starts with the origin of my two favorite characters from the franchise only to barely see them throughout the movie. If they focus the story entirely on Scorpion and Sub-Zero instead of this new character, the movie would have been amazing. This movie was entertaining to watch once but to purchase for $25 it's a no for me. Hopefully if they make a sequel they will fix the problems.
