Revisitant le roman tant aimé de Roald Dahl pour un public contemporain, Robert Zemeckis offre une vision novatrice des SACRÉES SORCIÈRES, le récit réconfortant et empreint d'humour noir d'un jeune garçon orphelin (Bruno) qui, vers la fin de l'année 1967, va habiter avec sa grand-mère bien-aimée (Spencer) à Demopolis, une ville de la campagne d'Alabama. Le garçon et sa grand-mère font la rencontre de sorcières faussement élégantes, mais résolument diaboliques. La grand-mère emmène donc sagement son petit-fils dans un somptueux complexe hôtelier en bord de mer. Malheureusement, ils y arrivent précisément au moment où la Grande Sorcière (Hathaway) a rassemblé ses fidèles consœurs de partout dans le monde (clandestinement) pour mettre en œuvre son plan infâme.

Nothing to do with the cost.... I'm sorry to say this was terrible. "Intro" before they get to the hotel too long, depressing and boring. In my opinion it's not suitable for little children. I think AH is a great actress but she's really bad in this, the accent ruins all dialog. The story is then rushed at the end. Sorry but it's just not worth watching, don't waist your money.

A fresh, yet faithful, adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic; The Witches 2020 succeeds in casting a charming spell over its audience. This is a story about the struggle of an orphaned boy and his grandma against a secret and dark world order controlled by witches. A much loved 1983 novel of the same name and a 1990 film, Robert Zemeckis, director, had a lot to live up to. But the Back To The Future director pulls it off in style with outstanding performances and special effects to match

SPOILERS Black representation means nothing if studios still continue to roll out tired black stereotypes. The witches in this movie only target poor black children. Octavio plays another Mammy character, she religious but also does Voodoo, she loves fried chicken. Now I know why my friends parents keep apologising about the chicken at dinner time, clearly been watching stuff like this. Most reviewers ignored these tired troupes , but choose to focus interpretation of the witches limbs.
