يعد "Doctor Sleep" تتمة لقصة داني تورنس حيث تجري أحداثها بعد مضي 40 عامًا على الأحداث المرعبة لرواية The Shining للكاتب ستيفن كينج. وقد كافح دان تورنس لينعم بالسلام، على الرغم من معاناته من الصدمة المروعة التي تعرض لها وهو طفل صغير في Overlook. ولكن تبدد هذا السلام عندما قابل أبرا، مراهقة شجاعة تمتلك موهبة الإدراك خارج الحواس العظيمة، تعرف باسم "التألق." وقد حدثها حدسها أن دان يتمتع بنفس قوتها، لذا فقد بحثت عنه أبرا، راجية مساعدته في مواجهة روز ذا هات الشريرة وأتباعها الذين يطلق عليهم اسم، العقدة الحقيقية، والذين يتغذون على تألق الأبرياء في سعيهم إلى الخلود. وقد تحالف دان وأبرا وخاضا معركة حياة أو موت شرسة ضد روز. وقد دفعت براءة أبرا وشجاعتها النابعة من قوتها "التألق" دان إلى إخراج قواه كما لم يفعل من قبل مواجهًا مخاوفه وموقظًا أشباح الماضي.

I wish I would have seen this in theaters. Mike Flanagan has really hit his stride with this one, admittedly I didn't expect much going in but this movie really just worked for me. It worked perfectly as an expansion to The Shining, even if you're not too familiar with Stephen King's universe. Some of the kills in the movie may disturb some though, so be aware. This is not your average jump scare fest, this movie sets a mood. Watch the extended cut if you can.

This isn't "The Shining" and you shouldn't expect it to be. It provides a good closing ark for Danny Torrence and continues the universe in a good, thrilling way. However, that tense and raw fear experienced throughout "The Shining" isn't prevalent in Doctor Sleep. Those wanting to see how the story of Danny Torrence is complete, while learning a few more things about Jack Torrence & his wife, you should watch this film. Overall though it's a good film & worth the watching.

I don't think anyone could've done such a brilliant job on a sequel as this director has done.... especially on such a classic by one of the greatest authors of all time Steven King
