Der preisgekrönte Regisseur Joe Wright hüllt die Kinobesucher in "Cyrano" in eine Symphonie der Emotionen mit Musik, Romantik und Schönheit und interpretiert die zeitlose Geschichte einer herzzerreißenden Dreiecksbeziehung neu. Cyrano de Bergerac (gespielt von Peter Dinklage), ein Mann, der seiner Zeit voraus ist, glänzt mit wilden Wortspielen beim verbalen Aufeinandertreffen oder mit brillantem Schwertkampf im Duell. Da er jedoch überzeugt ist, dass sein Aussehen ihn der Liebe einer treuen Freundin, der strahlenden Roxanne (Haley Bennett), unwürdig macht, hat Cyrano ihr seine Gefühle noch nicht gestanden - und Roxanne hat sich auf den ersten Blick in Christian (Kelvin Harrison, Jr.) verliebt.

Bewertungen und Rezensionen

I loved this movie. My familiarity with the story was comparing the beats in it to Steve Martin's Roxanne. I liked this spin without the long nose and Dinklage was terrific as always. Surprising seeing him in a musical, but he pulls it off. The strongest song is great on vocals (a bit weird on message)... but my favourite song was the haunting ballad of soldiers sending final messages to loved ones. This is a terrific and under appreciated film and imo head and shoulders over West Side Story

This movie was absolutely stunning. I loved the music and the costumes. I would have loved to see it be even longer than it was just to get more of the story. Peter Dinklage did so good, he made the movie have a heartbeat. Haley Bennet was everything I could have asked for in a Roxanne. She was truly enchanting. Of course I would have wished for a more of a "happy ending" but I accept it for what it is and despite the heart aches there really is so so much heart. I have fallen in love again. Now I need to go watch all of Peter and Haleys other movies.

Cheap, modern, with a horribly shallow romance and a brainless heroine. I guess it's based on a play. A bad movie is still a bad movie. It's possible to use classical language while still having the characters converse like real people. This director's previous work, Pride & Prejudice, proves that. Instead, it felt like the actors were shouting their lines at each other. This is worlds apart from P&P, a bad romance, and a worse film. Peter Dinklage was good, that's the only nice thing I can say.
