About this movie

木下作品としては珍しくアクション映画的要素を持った作品。太平洋戦争末期の北海道を舞台に、疎開してきた園部家の娘に村長の息子との縁談が持ち込まれる。だが村長の息子は大陸で残虐行為をしていたため、園部家はこれを断る。以来、村人たちの園部家への嫌がらせが始まり......。異色の戦争寓話でもある。
