Il lottatore di MMA Cole Young, abituato a combattere per soldi, non conosce le sue vere origini o il motivo per cui Shang Tsung, l'imperatore del Regno Esterno, abbia inviato il letale criomante Sub-Zero a ucciderlo. Preoccupato per la sicurezza della sua famiglia, Cole parte dietro consiglio di Jax alla ricerca di Sonya Blade, un membro dell'Unità Forze Speciali che presenta lo stesso marchio a forma di drago con cui Cole è nato. In seguito, Cole giunge al tempio di Raiden, Dio del Tuono e protettore della Terra, che offre rifugio ai portatori del marchio. Lì Cole si allenerà a fianco di Liu Kang, Kung Lao e il mercenario Kano, in preparazione per lo scontro finale per la salvezza dell'universo contro i nemici del Regno Esterno. Riuscirà Cole a superare i propri limiti e sbloccare l'immenso potere arcano celato nella sua anima, per salvare la propria famiglia e sconfiggere il Regno Esterno una volta per tutte?

Positives - Great action and fight scenes - Brutal and gory like a Mortal Kombat movie should be Negatives - Having been a fan of Mortal Kombat since I was a kid, I felt like the writers did not know which direction to go - They kept bring up the tournament, but there was no tournament. - Goro looked great, but had no real part except to die. - Like every other movie that has a "Chosen One" they use a birth mark The original movie from the 90s was far better. Merge the two would be 5 🌟!!!

I despise when studios make a franchise movie to milk the built-in fan base, but they're ashamed of the characters, so they make their own characters, usually for "representation" reasons. Since this franchise had tons of Asians already, I'm not sure why WB hated them. But clearly, they did. So you get Joe Asian-American. With a dumbass super power. I watched this on HBO Max and still wanted my money back.

Being a fan of the 95' original I had high expectations. The movie starts with the origin of my two favorite characters from the franchise only to barely see them throughout the movie. If they focus the story entirely on Scorpion and Sub-Zero instead of this new character, the movie would have been amazing. This movie was entertaining to watch once but to purchase for $25 it's a no for me. Hopefully if they make a sequel they will fix the problems.
