피아니스트를 꿈꾸는 유미는 가장 소중한 친구인 강아지 방울이를 하늘나라로 떠나보내고 슬픔에 빠진다. 엄마의 설득에도 여전히 방울이의 물건을 버릴 수 없고, 새로운 학교로 전학을 가게 되지만 누구와도 친해지고 싶지 않다. 최악의 하루를 보낸 유미는 하굣길에 낯선 여자아이를 만난다. 이상한 하루의 끝 무렵, 둘은 피아노를 발견한다.
