사람들이 못 들어오게 울타리를 만드는 사람도 있지만, 사람들이 못 나가게 울타리를 만드는 사람도 있다. 어거스트 윌슨의 퓰리처 상 수상 희곡을 영화화한 "펜스"에서 아카데미 수상 경력의 덴젤 워싱턴과 아카데미 후보에 올랐던 비올라 데이비스가 올해 가장 강력한 연기를 선보인다. 1950년대 피츠버그를 무대로 한 이 영화는 은퇴한 흑인 리그 야구선수 트로이 맥슨(워싱턴)이 자신을 무너뜨리려 위협하는 세상에서 사랑하는 이들을 돌보기 위해 투쟁하는 모습을 열정적으로 보여준다. 울타리 너머에 무엇이 있는지 개의치 않는 보편적 진리인 사랑, 용서, 행복이 감독으로서 워싱턴의 개가와 함께 숨쉰다.

ደረጃዎች እና ግምገማዎች

Quite an enjoyable family story. It's certainly not a 'family movie' though as there's a lot of mature themes in it. But the acting is all excellent, and the writing is even better (It's also an advanced lesson in Ebonics). The story doesn't move in the predictable Hollywood fashion. For example, 2 characters talk privately, nearby windows. I expected that the same old, 'overheard you eavesdropping' would happen, but it doesn't. No, the writer respects the characters enough not to drop plot moving nukes onto them. I fully recommend this, it was nice to watch with my wife and I expect I will view it again sometime in the next year or two.
