About this movie

“12 Strong” is set in the harrowing days following 9/11 when a U.S. Special Forces team, led by their new Captain, Mitch Nelson (Hemsworth), is chosen to be the first U.S. troops sent into Afghanistan for an extremely dangerous mission. There, in the rugged mountains, they must convince Northern Alliance General Dostum (Navid Negahban) to join forces with them to fight their common adversary: the Taliban and their Al Qaeda allies. In addition to overcoming mutual distrust and a vast cultural divide, the Americans—accustomed to state-of-the-art warfare—must adopt the rudimentary tactics of the Afghan horse soldiers. But despite their uneasy bond, the new allies face overwhelming odds: outnumbered and outgunned by a ruthless enemy that does not take prisoners.

Implausible, badly developped characters, bad acting and based on a parallel reality propaganda world. It depicts the worst of humanity as if it would be heroic. I want to see real, true stories about relatively current conflicts in the world. Why not showing stories that are truly happening right now in Syria. Now that's a thriller, but no heroes on the US side as there weren't really any heroes in Afghanistan.

Pretty good. The movie started off with a lot of potential, however I did find it a bit slow in some places. I did not find the movie entirely unrealistic but I only seen maybe one or two characters change magazines. The movie portrays the human spirit, brotherhood along trust. It seems that the movie mainly focuses on the relationship of the main character and the Muslim leader fighting against the Taliban. I am saying all of these negative things but I do think this movie is worth watching.

This is one of the worst modern day war movies I've seen. Taliban jumping from behind cars so they could be shot. US Soldiers standing up from behind perfectly solid rock cover to aim and shoot weapons. I couldn't even justify this as a B movie. Bad, really very bad.
