Based on an incredible true story of one man's fight for survival and freedom. In the pre-Civil War United States, Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a free black man from upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery. Facing cruelty (personified by a malevolent slave owner, portrayed by Michael Fassbender), as well as unexpected kindnesses, Solomon struggles not only to stay alive, but to retain his dignity. It's a brilliant movie. This is one of the gut wrenching movies I have watched. Movie has lots of heartbreaking and sad moments. After watching this movie, you realize that a human being is capable of both inflicting and enduring great amount of pain.

No more explanation required!! Just watch it in one go and you'll feel the pain!! <3 One of the best dramas which were based on the true stories!

Shaken to the core. This movie will stay with for a long time. I found myself rooting desperately for the protagonist. The complexity of the characters is portrayed in a fabulous manner.
