About this movie

Sam Mendes, the Oscar®-winning director of Skyfall, Spectre and American Beauty, brings his singular vision to this World War I epic. At the height of the First World War, two young British soldiers, Schofield (Captain Fantastic's George MacKay) and Blake (Game of Thrones' Dean-Charles Chapman), are given a seemingly impossible mission. In a race against time, they must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers--Blake's own brother among them.

There are moments of brilliance, some amazing visuals but its all style over substance unfortunately. Poor acting from the two young leads, stilted and forced dialogue and the 'one shot' trick was a gimmick that made the movie worse not better although you can see why the critics loved it from a technical perspective. Very moving at the end though, and especially as based loosely on recollections of the war from the director's grandfather.

Great film. But it would even better if it was available in 4k, like all the other content providers. Google Play has sadly slipped behind the competition.

Poor Characters, poor story and boring at sometimes. And really doesn't offer anything new and just plays off its ' 1 shot premise'
