1% is a story of brotherhood, loyalty and betrayal set within the primal underworld of outlaw motorcycle gangs. It follows Paddo, heir to the throne of the Copperheads MC, who has to betray his president to save his brother’s life. When this betrayal leads to a split in the club it results in civil war, forcing Paddo to choose between loyalty and blood.

It is a pity that a film which starts off breathing life back into Australian cinema couldn't maintain the juice and tie it up satisfactorily at the end. Likewise, it's laudable that the film's central themes of power and betrayal are Shakespearean in their roots. The idea here of women manipulating behind the scenes and goading men into disastrous confrontations is very true to life unlike Woke portrayals of the female sex as a paragon of every human virtue. Instead, the true perfidy of their nature is spoken here. Sadly, that's also one of its most unrealistic foundations since outlaw biker clubs wouldn't ever allow women influence such as they do in this film. Nonetheless, the futility of the criminal biker lifestyle is portrayed frankly and by a convincing cast. Matt Nable, who played Jock Ross in the mini-series Brothers In Arms is instantly recognizable as the Copperheads' Prez. Interesting too that he wrote the screenplay. A better class of biker flick all round.
